The award ceremony took place on October 9th 2013.
On August 28th tenants of the Shalheveth apartment complex celebrated the close of the year and blessed the New Year together with caregivers, staff, board members and friends of Shalheveth at the New Train Station Compound in Jerusalem. A great time was had by all enjoying the buzzing Jerusalem atmosphere, the fragrant balmy evening and a special classical music street concert. Kudos to the new First Station for fantastic accesible paths to the whole compound and full wheelchair access to all the shops and attractions! http://www.firststation.co.il/en/
Shana Tova from Shalheveth!
Shalheveth End of Year Party
On Passover Shalheveth hosted 40 adults with severe physical disabilities, from Shalheveth’s apartment complex, Beit Tamar, Maon Gilo and private homes, together with their care givers, at a Dead Sea Resort. The Seder was led by Baruch Fisheimer who has been leading Seder for Shalheveth’s Pesach project for over 15 years. Participants spoke of a Jewish, extremely emotional experience, full of song and dance and truly felt part of the community. They expressed their appreciation of being able to encounter and celebrate with Israelis holidaying at the hotel in a normative and natural way. A Seder was also held in Beit Shalheveth led by Rabbi Zvi Dardik, the rabbi of a community in the neighbourhood. There too participants expressed their joy and their appreciation that they could have a Seder in their own home.
This vital Pesach Project was made possible by the generous support of The Shtieblach Synagogue of Hachish St Jerusalem together with individual private donors from across the country.
